PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The use of soft coating Low-E glass is rapidly increasing due to the improved energy efficiency performance of insulated units and government regulations.  The soft Low E glass the coating must be stripped from the glass edge in order for the sealing adhesive to bond to the glass.  Perfect Score Technologies offers a two (2) axis semi automatic edge deletion system to rapidly accomplish this stripping operation. The table is capable edge deleting a minimum glass size of 24” x 24” and a maximum size of 60” x 84”.



MECHANICAL FEATURES

The PST Dual Axis Semi Automatic Low-E Edge Deletion Table is mounted on a MIG welded frame fabricated from heavy wall 2”x 3” tubular steel.  All sides of the table frame are skirted to baffle the noise of the air flotation blower unit.  Foot print size of  the  table frame is 100” x 115”.

The PST Dual Axis Semi Automatic Low-E Edge Deletion Table top is covered with abrasive resistance carpet and nylon edge trimmed to prolong carpet life. Pneumatic pop up alignment stops are built into the table top.   Three (3) pop up stops are located in the 115” back side length of the table and one (1) stop is located along the left edge of the table top.  Aligning stops allow for locating the glass sheeting in position for edge deleting.

The PST Dual Axis Semi Automatic Low-E Edge Deletion System is equipped with a combination air flotation / reverse vacuum package powered by a 3 hp high pressure blower unit and a plenum air flotation system to assist in loading, unloading and positioning the sheeting onto the table top. A directional shuttle shifts the air flow from a flotation to a vacuum mode.  When operated in a vacuum mode the reverse flow of air firmly locks the glass sheeting into position during edge deletion

The PST Dual Axis Semi Automatic Low-E Edge Deletion Table is equipped with an X direction 115” length rail/linear way package upon which a motor driven carriage is mounted.  The carriage is equipped with an edge deletion mechanism and edge deletion wheel.  The rail is 40 mm x 80 mm aluminum extrusion equipped with 14 mm diameter linear ways upon which the edge deletion carriage travels. The Carriage motor is driven thru a gear tooth belt system.

The PST Dual Axis Semi Automatic Low-E Edge Deletion Table is equipped with a Y direction 60” length rail/linear way package upon which a motor driven carriage is mounted. The carriage is equipped with a motor driven edge deletion mechanism and edge deletion wheel.  The Rail is 40 mm x 80 mm aluminum extrusion equipped with 14 mm diameter linear ways upon which the edge deletion carriage travels. Carriage motor is driven thru a gear tooth belt system.

Both X & Y direction deletion wheel carriages are driven by digital servo motors. Deletion speeds are precisely controlled thru PST’s K-motion digital motion control electric board. The operating functions of the semi automatic Edge Deletion System are executed by  the digital motion control board. 

The PST Dual Axis Semi Automatic Low-E Edge Deletion Table will operate on 208, 230 or 480 volt, 60 hz., 3 phase electrical power.  Purchaser to specify operating voltage.

The Low-E particles created during edge deletion contain heavy metals classified as carcinogens therefore the Low-E edge deletion table is equipped with a PST industrial quality high efficiency dust collector which collects the low-e debris to assure personnel safety.  The dust collector is powered by a 3 hp blower unit with an enclosed housing that contains 18 large surface area bags having the capability to capture particles sizes down to 3 microns in size @ 99.5% efficiency.  Optional 3 hp collector can be equipped with a HEPA filter pack capable of collecting particle sizes down to ½” micron.

The PST Dual Axis Semi Automatic Low-E Edge Deletion Table has dual selection switch to control the length of travel of the edge deletion wheels.  The two options for wheel travel are 48” x 48” and 60” x 84”. If the selection switch is in the 48x48 position the X & Y travel length of the deletion wheel will be limited to 48” x 48”.  If the selector switch is in the 60” x 84” the travel distance of the Y deletion wheel will be 60” and the X wheel will be limited to a travel distance of 84”.

OPERATING SEQUENCE

Using air flotation the operator positions a glass lite (low-e coated side face up) against the X & Y axis alignment stops and presses the foot pedal switch to initiate the edge deletion cycle. A shuttle valve shifts, to reverse the air flotation, and creates a vacuum source which locks the glass lite to the table top at which time the pop-up alignment stops retract into the table top.

The pneumatic cylinders lower the abrasive wheels to contact the glass lite and both carriage motors initiate movement of the motor driven wheel carriages along the X & Y axis.   Deletion removal is achieved simultaneously on the X & Y axis.   The X & Y carriage will travel along their respective rails until the abrasive wheel has traveled the full length of the selector switch setting.  The abrasive wheel carriage is reversed then travels and parks at its home position.

When both abrasive wheel carriages have returned to their respective home positions the air flotation system will automatically come on so that the operator can rotate the glass lite 180 degrees and repeat the above deletion procedure.

The PST Dual Axis Semi Automatic Low-E Edge Deletion Table removes the low-e coating from two edges of the glass lite with each pass of the edge deletion wheel therefore, the glass lite must be rotated 180 degrees and the cycle repeated so that all four (4) edges of the lite are deleted. When the low-e coating has been removed from all  edges of the sheeting the glass lite can be removed from the table and another lite loaded for low-e removal.
